WALLENSTEIN, N., MATOS, S., JESUS, M. C., MONTALVO, A. (2022) - IS42 and the PTS response capacity during and after the COVID-19 pandemic. 7th  workshop on Operation and Maintenance of the IMS, CTBTO,  Viena (Áustria), 28 de novembro - 2 de dezembro.

Resumo

Over the last 3 years, a lot of resilience has been required to keep the station operating in good condition. After a hurricane hit the station in 2019 and the COVID-19 pandemic that affected so much O&M, a series of breakdowns and minor accidents due to the longevity of some equipment and adverse weather conditions increased the already considerable number of pending problems requiring the attention of the PTS. This presentation summarises the O&M issues still pending at the IS42 station and proposed solutions to handle those constraints. We consider these testimonies and exchanges of experiences between station operators and the PTS as very constructive for increasing the responsiveness and reliability of monitoring networks.

Since the last STMPPM 2020 and S&T 2021 meetings, the reduced response capacity of the PTS was noticed in its various sections, as foreseeable by COVID-19 drawbacks. However, recent developments over the last months make us believe in the resilience of its teams, despite the difficulties that are anticipated in the execution of maintenance work in the face of uncertainty and high costs due to the crisis imposed by the events in Eastern Europe.
