Resumo

The reliable use of physically-based models for landslide forecasting, namely hydrological models coupled with slope stability models need to be based on rigorous and exhaustive study of the slope hydrological and geotechnical parameters. Several consolidation drained (CD) direct shear tests were performed on undisturbed samples collected from di$erent stratigraphic layers in the Povoação County (S. Miguel, Azores). In the hydrological context, the saturated hydraulic conductivity (Ks) was measured in the laboratory using a constant head permeameter and long term oedometer tests; in the !eld it was used a double ring constant head permeameter. Unsaturated hydraulic conductivity, K(h) or K(θ), was measured with evaporation and hot air methods, while the soil water characteristic curves, θ(h), were obtained using a suction table, a pressure plate apparatus and an evaporation method. #e obtained results regarding the diferent methods shown a good agreement between them, and the experimental data was !tted using parameterization models of the hydraulic properties with R2 between 0.95 and 0.99. The obtained results will be used in the future as baseline and as input for analytical and numerical deterministic models to assess landslide susceptibility and forecast slope instability in the Povoação County.
