Resumo


This letter analyses the degradation induced by cross-phase modulation (XPM) in multi-section links using only dispersion precompensation. We use a previously developed analytical model to assess the XPM induced by the intensity and phase components of a precompensated non-return-to-zero 10 Gb/s signal. It is shown that the XPM-degradation is conditioned by the relation between the XPM resonance frequency and the relative minimums or maximums of the power and phase spectral densities of the precompensated pump IM and PM, respectively. This observation is used to derive a simple rule for the optimum dispersion precompensation for minimum XPM-degradation.
